I recently built an adjustable power supply using custom components and materials. Here’s my detailed feedback: Performance and Features: The display is clear and of good quality, offering accurate readings with useful multi-function features. The power supply provides a wide range of output voltages and passed all basic functionality tests without any issues. It performs reliably and consistently, even under higher loads. Power Source: I used two 48V 20A SMPS units connected in series (resulting in 110V output: 55V + 55V). This configuration worked flawlessly within the specified tolerance range (+/- 15%). Although input sources of this type aren’t readily available locally, the units I used were easy to integrate and performed perfectly. Enclosure and Build: Since enclosures for this kind of setup are not easily available, I built a custom enclosure using 5mm thick Bakelite (Hylem) sheets. It is durable, heat-resistant, and well-suited for the application. The overall design ensures excellent durability and adequate protection for the components. Cooling: The cooling system works effectively, with one fan directing airflow towards the SMPS heatsink and another fan acting as an exhaust. This setup prevents overheating and maintains stable operation. Shipping and Availability: The key components were shipped quickly to India, which was a major advantage given the limited local availability of specialized parts. Overall Experience This project resulted in a highly functional and versatile adjustable power supply. The combination of custom-built and sourced components worked seamlessly. I’m especially pleased with the quality of the display, the wide output range, and the robust performance of the SMPS units. If you're looking for a custom, cost-effective solution with a wide range of applications, this setup is highly recommended.

I recently completed a project to build an adjustable power supply, and here’s my feedback: Performance and Features: The display is excellent, with clear and accurate voltage and current readings. It also includes multiple useful features for monitoring and adjustments. The power supply provides a wide range of output voltages and passed all basic functionality tests without any issues. The system operates smoothly and handles high loads effectively. Power Source: For the input, I used two 24V 20A SMPS units connected in series, resulting in a total output of ~72V (36V + 36V). This configuration worked perfectly, even when tested within the tolerance range (+/- 15%). It provided a reliable and consistent input for the adjustable buck converters. While 24V SMPS units are not always readily available locally, they were shipped without delays and integrated seamlessly into the setup. Enclosure and Build: Due to the unavailability of ready-made enclosures, I custom-built one using 5mm thick Bakelite (Hylem) sheets. The enclosure is sturdy, heat-resistant, and provides excellent protection for all internal components. This custom design ensures durability and suits the power supply's requirements well. Cooling System: The cooling is effective, with one fan blowing air directly towards the SMPS heatsink and another fan functioning as an exhaust to expel hot air from the enclosure. This setup ensures consistent airflow and prevents overheating during prolonged operation. Shipping and Availability: Despite some challenges in sourcing components locally, the key parts (SMPS units, buck converters, and display) were fast-shipped to India.
