KenAJ I built this kit without using the included motor to turn the ferris wheel. I have my doubts as to the longevity of the spring loaded traction pins supplying voltage to the circuit - I feel they would wear too quickly. However as a stationary display the wheel is still very, very pretty and outputs a beautiful array of colourful animated progressions. Of course you could still build the kit and use the motor and then when the electrical tracks / pins eventually wear you could then convert it to a fixed display. I chose not to use the motor as this kit was a gift to my grand-daughter.
