BG444985094 Ihad the same problem. I ordered more then 30 pieces. The temperature value was off 20 K in some sensors. I had to calibrate it by myself with a reference sensor like you mentioned.
BG444985094 The sensor is even after calibrating not showing reasonable values. The specified accuracy (50 ppm +- 5% from measure value) is not archieved. I had to calibrate it by myself in software. So I got it to work somehow. But if you want to use the sensor out of the box only with hardware calibrating the sensor is not working. Maybe the reason for this are the temperature sensors which are also build in the shield. The temperature values in some sensors are more then 20 °C off. So the "temperature compensation" can not work properly.

BG444985094 In my case it's not working. The device is going in AT mode when pressing the button and powering the module but it doesn't respond to any AT commands so far. I purchased same module in another store which is working without problems.
