Charles There's widespread misunderstanding about LEDs, voltage and current. The voltage is quite critical and varies with temperature, so you need to regulate the current instead. The LED will do 50W, but perhaps it's one volt either side of the spec. You simply make sure the forward current is sufficient to make I x V = 50W.

Charles Just crank up the voltage! As long as it's on a decent heatsink and you use a thin layer of grease, you'll get your I x V = 50W. Don't be shy!

Charles Just increase the voltage. You could make it give you 100W if you like - say if at 40V it might draw 2.5A. The question is how long would it last at that power.
